A few notes about shopping WinCo Foods:

I spoke to a supervisor at an Idaho location to get some basics down before I passed them along, but he was unsure of a few things just because of how few and far between the instances come up. Here is what I got:
  1. They do price match. They pride themselves in being the "low-price leader" in the supermarket. So if you find an ad price for another store that beats theirs, bring it in and they will honor that price for you.
  2. Their "store brand" is called HyTop.
  3. They accept all forms of coupons, including internet printable. But please keep in mind that they follow the "scannable" rule, meaning that the coupon MUST BE SCANNABLE or they will not accept it. (that means that those of you who print in grayscale may want to change your printer setting if you are going to WinCo!)
  4. ***It is unknown whether or not they will allow you to stack a store coupon with a manufacturer coupon for added savings. Print/take your coupons just in case you can, but be prepared to not be able to use them in case you can't (sorry I can't give you a better answer than that).***
  5. They DO NOT accept credit cards in any form (including gift card form). Debit card transactions are welcomed, but a PIN number is required. Other forms of payment accepted are cash, check, food stamps and gift cards/certificates (store issued only).
I think that covers it. I plan on going down to the Midvale store bright and early on Monday to see what WinCo Foods is all about! Wish me luck! If you plan on hitting either of the stores on Monday (or anytime next week) as well, be sure to leave a comment about your experience and what you thought...the good, the bad, and the ugly! It'll be fun to share!!

I'm so excited for you guys! I heart Winco and get all of my essentials there that I can't get on a great sale anywhere else. They have a great bulk section too, FYI that beats most of the packaged prices even with coupons.

The store was good but just another store with prices that might be lower.

The line to get in was very very long. Even after I left it was wrapped around to the side of the building.

The prices on the Bear Creek Soup that was on sale rang up wrong and a manager had to approve an override. The manager were very helpful. The display said the price was 1.98 for displayed varieties and the ad said 1.98 for 11 oz mixes only. There was only on soup mix at the 11 oz size. They all rang up at 3.81.

    They are working on it.

They do NOT price match. Apparently theyno longer do that :(. Big bummer!

Anonymous: did you try to price match and they said no? I'm wondering where you got this info. When I spoke to one of the store managers I was told that they will price match as long as you bring in the ad and it is for the exact same item. Was this at a different store location?

Does anyone know where I can get a Winco ad and coupons?

If you didn't get the ad in the mail on Saturday or Monday, it should be available in the store...however, the store "coupon" prices ring up regardless of whether or not you have the ad, the price is only valid for the number of items listed though (you can buy more than the limit, but you will pay a higher price).

Thank you! I didn't get the ad in the mail and was so disappointed, I'm glad I can still get the coupon deals!

My husband and I went shopping at winco we spent 2hrs there they were really packed with people we had got some good deals, but when we got up to the check stand we were unaware they did not except credit card or gift cards we were going to use a gift card so we just left. They have a sign on the wall as you walk in, but there were so many people you were trying not to hit with your cart that you did not notice that sign. so all that time was wasted we were very disappointed. I'm sure alot of other people had the same experience as we did.

Anonymous- I'm sorry that you didn't realize that they don't accept credit cards. I did make sure to mention that in both of my posts, I am sorry that you missed it. However, when I was there the person in front of me went all the way through his order before he realized that he couldn't pay with a credit card. The cashier offered to "suspend" his order and put it in the fridge so that he could come back with another form of payment. It is a hassle, but at least the time wouldn't have been totally wasted!

You need coupons or your ad now. After 10/22 the computers don't read the sale price and just ring in as the actual prices!

Wow! Some people go to great lengths to get a good deal to find themselves more frustrated!

Winco is the best! I come from Oregon, and I've just been having a fit that I can't get certain items here... not anymore! If Winco rings something up at the wrong price - you get it for free! You can't get anything lower than at Winco - and you can't get a lot of the things Winco offers anywhere else! Trust me - I've spent months looking everywhere!

I would like to know how to apply for a job at the new Winco in Clinton/ Roy.

There is a lot of people in Tooele Utah who thinks you should build one here, that would save a lot of people a lot of money.

The lower prices are great but it does not make up for the poor customer service provided by the cashiers at the Roy location. I will return to my beloved Smith's where the customer service is obviously still a priority!
